Well her opponent recognized that she was not just some loser but had actual potential. That was what her using Megumis actual name instead of a nickname meant. Megumi only started to get into her groove and develop in the last couple of months, the thought of her potential after a couple more years of experience and experimentation is what is giving everyone pause. Megumi only started to develop and shine after meeting Souma after all.0

Back when Star Trek: Next Generation came out, they didn't use Worf for anything but "badass Klingon warrior" to increase dramatic tension. When the Villain Of The Week mops the floor with him, we know VOTW is a serious threat. But when they let every goddamn VOTW kick Worf's ass, it quickly became a sad joke. ~~~ Poor Megumi has a bad case of Worf Punching Bag Syndrome. We keep hearing all about her potential, but I don't remember the judges going out of their way to criticize anyone else (let alone so harshly). It's starting to sound like "Keep going, you have lots of potential to get better... because God knows you couldn't get any worse *snicker*" XP0

Hm, well I was right about something being at the center of those, but I was wrong about Megumi finally pulling out a big win. I suppose it IS a stretch for her to suddenly be able to beat an elite like that, but it is a bit boring to see the results of her fight happening this way, again. I also suppose one of the three had to lose, and it was not going to be Souma.1

Hm, well either there is something at the very center of those. Or there is something special about the tea she served as well. Maybe its scent will help match up?0

Of course there is more to the meal. They haven't even gotten to the tea that she poured for them. No way that was just normal tea, it will be something that will go well with the sweet.0

Does anyone feel like Soma is gonna follow in his dad's footsteps and not graduate but go off to discover new foods and cooking methods? Like something always feels off about his character, especially if you watch the anime as well....0

Don't forget when Megumi was judged by the grandpa that his underwear came off and he said that she had amazing potential0

Guest_69173 We do not actually know how long they have been in the elite 10. Only that they are currently in their third year and most people do not make it into the elite ten in their first year. This means they have only had their seats for maybe around two years, if that. Also, the entire point of this arc is about how unlikely it is for first years to beat the elite ten. I know Megumi never shown much confidence but I feel like she will win thanks to her training and effort, not to mention with the team support she has. It is not like she will suddenly be in the elite 10 if she wins here.1

@Guest_69168: That's true, but somehow it is hard to imagine Megumi winning this match with as experienced cook as Momo. I wonder what will be the trick. Maybe also Aldini hid artichokes in his dish or that Eizan effect isn't off yet? I just don't imagine how Megumi can make better dish. Besides even Souma won with Soba girl because of circumstantions not actual skills in soba. If that wansn't a case what will be better in being elite ten for years if some random rebel first years can beat you?0

@Guest_69165 Well, she beat her "coach" once at least. She also made it far into the fall festival, she beat several people to get there. Although you do have a point. She has lost whenever it came to a tournament where there can only be one winner by the end. I think its time for Megumi to have a really big victory and really validate her place among all her "openly" talented friends.1
